The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry is represented in the United States by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center  (PTIC) with offices in Washington D.C., New YorkSan Francisco, and Los Angeles.

In fostering the continued strong bilateral economic relations between the Philippines and the United States, PTIC provides the following services:

Trade Representation and Negotiation 

We monitor, assess, and make recommendations on trade policy initiatives by the United States Government relevant to Philippine interests in the areas of market access for Philippines exports, trade preference programs, specifically the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), U.S. trade defense measures, and regulatory requirements for Philippine products that enter the commerce of the United States. We also make representations, as instructed by the Department of Trade and Industry on these matters to the appropriate offices of the U.S. government.

Investment Promotion

We provide potential foreign investors with information about the particular strengths and operating conditions of the Philippines as a business location.   In close cooperation with various partners from the private sector and the network investment promotion agencies in the Philippine foreign companies we assist companies in the planning of the following activities, among others:

  • Reaching out to the regional investment boards
  • Finding the ideal location in the Philippines
  • Advise on meeting legal and administrative requirements
  • Advise on corporate structure and explaining the Philippines’ tax system

We likewise provide Philippine companies with information on the United States and assistance with their due diligence as they explore the United States for their expansion plans.

Export Promotion

We assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) identify and make use of sales opportunities abroad and positions Philippine exporters as internationally competitive providers to foreign markets. We provide market analyses and evaluation, contacts to business partners, and participation in major international trade shows , which include the Philippines’ annual participation at the Winter Fancy Food Show.

We likewise assist US exporters in finding partners in the Philippines and facilitate participation in Manila FAME, the country’s premier lifestyle and design event for home, fashion, holiday, architectural, and interior pieces, and IFEX Philippines, the country’s biggest international trade exhibition on the Philippines’ and Asia’s ethnic and specialty food, tropical fruits, vegetables, seafood, beverages, bakery and confectionery products, meat and poultry, Halal-certified products, as well as natural, organic, and healthy food products.
